Day 1 of the Nationals ~ Results and Report

Good Day Sailors,
The RCLaser Nationals got off to a flying start on Saturday 24th
We were graced with a strong north easterly breeze when the sailors launched for a bit of practice before the first race.
Choice of sail being the 'storm' or 'C' sail for the whole fleet
But the wind moderated and more than half the fleet had switched to the 'B' sail before the start of the 1st race and soon thereafter all sailors and changed to the 'B' sail
A small but quality fleet of 10 sailors enjoyed the north easterly conditions that prevailed for the whole day.
After a short lunch break sailing resumed and concluded just before 15h45 when a total of 18 races had been completed
A total of 7 different race winners for the day.
So we move on to the second day of the Nationals with the north easterly still blowing a steady breeze
Thank you to all the people that have given us help to make the first day a success
Kind Regards
Terry F

Day 2 of the RCLaser National Championships ~ Results & Report

Good Day Sailors, The 2018 RCLaser National Champs were completed on Sunday 25th November
The north easterly breeze continued to blow on Sunday morning but just a few knots more than on Saturday
Most skippers decided to rig the 'storm' or 'C' sail from race 1 and that was the choice of sail until just after lunch break when the wind moderated and started to become a bit unstable
Another 13 races were sailed on Sunday making for a total race count of 31 races for the Nationals Regatta
RCL56 Des F maintained his stranglehold on the regatta with some strong performances in the stronger breeze despite being over the line in one of the later races
RCL23 Norrie T also had a good day and moved up in to 2nd over all at the end of the day while RCL7 Andrew H slipped a bit and moved down to 3rd place overall
Some skippers did experience some equipment and battery challenges that negatively impacted their overall results
A BIG 'thank you' to all those whom helped make this a successful regatta
Bruce S & Bernie W for help with the club facilities, marks & course laying
Priscilla W for assistant race officer duties & prize giving awards
Joe R, Bernie W & Ken M for race organisation assistance
Ian, Jeff, Gunter & Pierre for assistance in the galley and lunch preparation
All others that 'did their bit' to help
Bjorn H for photos
Until next time
Kind Regards
Terry F
